Antoine Doinel: French Poochie: 188-189, 322, 870
from Always See Everything - A Criterion Movie Podcast · host AnthonyReviews
Just noticing I misspelled Antoine Doinel's last name in the previous description. We really are set apart from the beasts by our capacity to learn, don't you think? A mistake is the most human thing of all, precisely because we can recognize it as such.Speaking of mistakes, Love on the Run concludes the 400 Blows-iverse with the correct message: there is nothing in life so beautiful that it isn't worth throwing away to smoke cigarettes and hook up with women who don't respect you. The White Sheik is probably as unremarkable a film as Frederico Fellini is capable of constructing, and frankly I, Sean, am sorry to have selected it for viewing. On the bright side, more Orson! Mr. Arkadan sees The Beard (nickname I'm trying to get off the ground for Orson Welles. I know it's for James Harden too but I don't think anyone is going to get them confused) playing a dark, morose villain against the backdrop of an international spy drama. He tries to fly in a plane but it crashes because he is too fat. This is almost as sad as Othello, a film based on a book or something where Orson Welles is nowhere to be seen and the lead is played by a black man.
