Recent research indicates that while mentorships are important for leadership success, it is sponsorships that make a difference in the career advancement of women. A Havard business review also reported that women tend to be over-mentored and under-sponsored. Too few women are reaching the top of their organizations, and a big reason is that they are not getting the high-stakes assignments that are prerequisite for a shot at the C-suite.
