Dutiful Future Hugh Smiley A guest based show, mostly focussed on politics, going over topics from climate change to gaming, US politics to religion! Tune in each week to hear a discussion on a range of diverse and interesting topics. Mathematical and Statistical Approaches to Climate Modelling and Prediction Cambridge University Our best estimates of future climate are based on the use of complex computer models that do not explicitly resolve the wide variety of spatio-temporal scales making up Earth's climate system. The non-linearity of the governing physical processes allows energy transfer between different scales, and many aspects of this complex behaviour can be represented by stochastic models. However, the theoretical basis for so doing is far from complete. Many uncertainties remain in predictions derived from climate models, yet governments are increasingly reliant on model predictions to inform mitigation and adaptation strategies. An overarching aim of climate scientists is to reduce the uncertainty in climate predictions and produce credible assessments of model accuracy. This programme focuses on two key themes that both require the close collaboration of mathematicians, statisticians and climate scientists in order to improve climate models and the interpretation of their output.Read more at h City Centric Podcast City Centric City Centric is a podcast series from the Centric Lab, a neuroscience research lab working at the intersection of health x climate change x cities. We believe that a person can only have agency over their health when they are part of a supportive ecosystem, which includes the places they inhabit. The podcast focuses on conversations around how our understanding of health needs to improve in order to overcome present day health challenges and prepare our urban environments for future changes.Centric is a small team based in London leading a civic movement on health justice. Centric aims to provide the tools and solutions to help policy makers protect our health as urbanisation becomes more complex. For more information please visit www.thecentriclab.com Do We Really Know What Climate Change is? Katya Is our society really educated on climate change? After asking a couple of people what they think, we'll speak with a professional meteorologist to find out her perspective.
