Northern Arizona woke up to 9 degrees. Nine. The kind of cold where your nostrils stick together on the inhale. Meanwhile, down in Tucson, you're sitting at a cozy 35 degrees in your slippers. Central Arizona splits the difference at 43 degrees. Here's the thing. Up in Flagstaff, a light northeast breeze at 5 miles an hour makes that single digit air bite even harder. Bundle up if you're heading out. Down south, a lazy 2 miles an hour southeast wind barely ruffles a napkin. The whole state stays bone dry today, but air quality is moderate, so if your lungs are sensitive, you'll want to take it easy. Now here's your heads up for the week ahead. We're climbing slowly out of this cold snap. Southern Arizona pushes toward 60 degrees by midweek. That's light jacket and sunglasses territory. The north? Stubbornly cold. Struggling to crack 20 degrees. No storms rolling in, but those overnight lows stay brutal up north. Keep that extra blanket handy. One thing that made me smile this morning. We're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight today alone. Sunrise hit at 6:32 A.M., and sunset stretches to 5:20 P.M. You can actually feel the days getting longer now.
