Arkansas Weather 3/7 Morning - Spring Surprise Shake-Up

from The Arkansas Weather Podcast

Good morning. Arkansas. I'm Aaron Jolly. That heavy, sticky air you felt stepping outside this morning? It isn't just humidity—it's fuel. A powerful cold front is marching across Arkansas right now, crashing into all that warm, unstable energy. We've a **Severe Thunderstorm Watch** in effect for 14 counties in eastern and southern Arkansas until 2 P.M., including Pine Bluff. Stuttgart. And Newport. And if you're near Hot Springs or Glenwood, keep a sharp eye on the roads—a **Flash Flood Warning** is active until 10:30 A.M. With 1 to 3 inches of rain falling fast. Central Arkansas, you're waking up to 70 degrees—that's 37 degrees above normal for early March. You'll hit 77 degrees around 1 P.M. Before temperatures crash this afternoon. Expect heavy rain and gusty winds by mid-morning. Tonight, you drop to 52 degrees with lingering showers. Northwest Arkansas starts cooler at 59 degrees in Fayetteville and Bentonville, with morning storms likely. But the real story is the drop—expect 38 degrees tonight as the front clears. Sunday rebounds beautifully to 71 degrees and sunshine. Jonesboro, you're ground zero for the heaviest rain today. Thunderstorms are certain before 11 A.M., with highs near 74 degrees. Like Little Rock, your temperatures fall through the afternoon, bottoming out at 50 degrees tonight. This is a dangerous setup for flooding. If you approach a covered road, turn around—don't drown. Looking ahead. Sunday offers a sunny break with highs in the 60s and 70s. But Monday and Tuesday bring another round of storms, potentially severe, with highs near 80. Wednesday sharply cooler, drying out by Friday. Keep those phones charged and stay weather-aware this afternoon. See you tomorrow. See you this afternoon.
