Thunderstorms are already firing up across central and southern Arkansas. Little Rock, you're in the thick of it from 7 A.M. To 4 P.M., with the heaviest action around 10 A.M. We're talking large hail and damaging winds possible. Northeast Arkansas, your turn comes between 10 A.M. and 4 P.M., peaking around 2 P.M. Northwest Arkansas? You catch a break — just a brief rain chance at 7 A.M., then mostly sunny skies. Highs today hit the mid-70s statewide. Little Rock and Fayetteville both reach 76. Jonesboro tops out at 74. South winds gust to 20 miles an hour, stronger in the northwest at 30. Tonight stays mild in the mid-60s. A few lingering storms possible after 7 P.M. Across central Arkansas. Tuesday cranks the heat even higher. Most areas push near 80 degrees — Little Rock hits 81. Fayetteville 78. Jonesboro 79. Storm chances ramp up Tuesday night. Here's where it gets wild. Wednesday brings the main event — heavy rain and strong storms spread statewide. Little Rock drops from 73 degrees to 68 as storms roll through. Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches expected. Flash flooding possible where storms train over the same areas. Wednesday night, temperatures crash hard. Central Arkansas falls to 42. Northwest Arkansas plunges to 35. Northeast Arkansas drops to 40. That's a brutal 30-degree swing in 24 hours. Thursday brings sunshine but cooler air — only upper 50s to low 60s. Friday rebounds nicely with sunshine and mid-70s.
