Audio Book The Canon of the Old and New Testaments Part 2 Section 8
from Down to Earth But Heavenly Minded · host Irving Risch
Text/audio format "The Canon of the Old and New Testaments Ascertained, or The Bible Complete without the Apocrypha and unwritten Traditions," by Archibald Alexander. About the author and other information: The admired Professor Alexander not only helped found Princeton Theological Seminary but served as its first principal. Alexander, along with B. B. Warfield and Charles and A. A. Hodge, became known as one of the Princeton theologians, arguably the most influential group of religious scholars in the history of American Christianity. Reacting against the rise of theological liberalism, they sought to restore the Bible’s reputation as an authoritative text to the world of academic theology. In The Canon of the Old and New Testaments Ascertained, Alexander details the history of the biblical canon’s formation. Unlike similar books coming out of the liberal schools of theology in Continental Europe, in which scholars often treated the Bible as merely a historical document, Alexander treats the text as one inspired by God.
