Victor LaValle is the author of four books including Big Machine and The Devil in Silver. He has been a winner of a Shirley Jackson Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship among other awards. He wrote the foreword to the Penguin reissue of Shirley Jackson’s The Sundial. He lives in Washington Heights with his family. & Sofia Samatar is the author of the 2014 Crawford Award-winning novel A Stranger in Olondria, and is currently working on its sequel, The Winged Histories. She is also the author of several short stories, poems, and reviews. Her work has been nominated for the Hugo, Nebula, Campbell, Locus, and British Science Fiction Association Awards. She is a co-editor for Interfictions: A Journal of Interstitial Arts, and teaches literature and writing at California State University Channel Islands.
