Battling the EHCP system - Special guest Nicole Bateman

from The Parenting Playbook Podcast · host Nicola Saunders

Today I will be speaking to Nicole Bateman, who is a mum of two and the Founder of the Super Sensory Squad. Nicole's son has been diagnosed with both Autism and epilepsy, and she shares with us the very real and current experiences that she is going through battling the EHCP system. After two and a half long years, despite the fact that seven professionals supported her application for an EHCP, not only was she initially declined for an assessment, but when she finally did get the assessment, her son's needs were not deemed necessary to be granted the much-needed support. Nicole talks about SEND Law and the importance of parents advocating for their children and looking after their own emotional well-being.
