EPISODE SUMMARY:Spirituality and religion play an important role in many people’s lives—but they may not feel comfortable bringing up these topics with their care providers. As we continue to look at ways to better support your health and well-being, Dr. Mary Jo Kreitzer and Reverend Brian Hughes join our hosts for a discussion about how spirituality and religion affect health care—and how to get the conversation started.HIGHLIGHTS:04:10 Interview: Dr. Mary Jo Kreitzer, Director of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality & Healing | Dr. Kreitzer has spent much of her career as a physician, educator, and researcher studying the connection between our spiritual practice and our health. She talks about the importance of asking the question “what matters?” when it comes to health and health care, instead of the traditional question, “what’s the matter?”024:35 Interview: Rev. Brian Hughes, spiritual care specialist and chaplain at UnitedHealth Group | Rev. Hughes shares anecdotes from his personal experiences as a hospital chaplain, including what it’s like to put aside his own perspective and focus on being present for another person in need. RESOURCES:How to talk to someone who is seriously ill or dying (optum.com)How to live well with chronic illness (optum.com)Earl E. Body, Mind, Spirit God created man. He didn’t create spirit, soul, and body separately and then somehow weave them together. In the scripture quote above, St. Paul refers to all three of these aspects as what makes us an entire person. Because of the great expanse of knowledge regarding the different facets of the person, […] The post Body, Mind, Spirit appeared first on Ultimate Christian Podcast Radio Network.

Episode Description

We are always navigating times of change but these current periods can feel especially turbulent and unsettling, not just individually but collectively.

If you find yourself in a place of uncertainty, navigating liminal space, or feeling lost, this episode is for you. It's a difficult place to be in, and I'm navigating one myself so know you're not alone in that.

Uncertain times often bring us face to face with our shadow, which can be disorienting, overwhelming, and at times painful, leading us to grasp for any semblance of certainty and stability.

It's a human impulse, one to be expected.

What we don't realize is that as we cling and grasp, our sense of agency diminishes more and more in trying to get ourselves to hold on to what used to be.

By reaching for certainty and resisting being in the void, we block ourselves from possibility.

How then, can we break free from these traps when paralysis sets in and seeing beyond the liminal space feels impossible?

I took this question to my ancestors and their response may surprise you because it certainly did me.

While we may be feeling tender during these times, sometimes being in the void is what provides the medicine.

I hope you enjoy this episode...it's a special one to me.

Thanks for listening!
