Jesus Christ asked this question, not because he doesn't know whom he was, but he wanted to sample the opinion of the people. Few Points Every Believer Needs To Know. 1. WE ARE AT WAR. Many Christians don't know what they're faced with, that is why they feel there's no need for the stress. 2. YOU ARE IN THE ENEMY'S CAMP The bible records it that, the devil is the god of this world. (2 Corinthians 4:4) That simply explains why we face what we are faced with. It is better to be on the offensive than to be on the defensive HUMAN BEINGS ARE NOT THE ENEMY. Ephesians 6:12 Jesus told Peter, get the behind me Satan. He wasn't really speaking to Peter, but Satan. This means human beings are just objects or tools being used per time. You neighbor, grandmother, grandfather, family member, a colleague isn't the enemy, the devil is. Matthew 16:17 and Matthew 16:23 Jesus was able to discern who was using Peter per time. Peter was used by God in verse 17, and in verse 23, Satan has taken over. We are meant to discern the acts of the devil. 4. THE DEVIL IS STRATEGIC. MATTHEW 16:18 The gates in the olden days is not a physical gate, but a place where strategist and decision-makers gather to plan and strategize.
