Best Of: Onside Kick After Safety ! ! ! Only Dick Lebeau

from Rivals

Jason Buck and Scott Mitchell of Rivals talk about a man they both worked with for the NFL: Dick Lebeau. Both Jason and Scott played for Dick Lebeau at the Cincinnati Bengals.  Even today, he picks up the phone for them. Lebeau is like Clint Eastwood.  He's very cool but can get action-packed when needed.  He was a pro bowl player in the NFL as a great defensive back.  He had 62 interceptions in an era where they didn't throw the ball. Scott played for Dick Lebeau when he was a defensive coordinator.  The head coach Bruce Coslet just left.  Totally walked away.  So they made Lebeau the interim head coach.  Usually, that would be the kiss of death.  Lebeau made it work.  Scott remembers when he called an offside kick from a safety.  Only Lebeau would know how to do something like that.

Age of Elizabeth by Mandell Creighton Loyal Books This short history by the eminent British historian, Mandell Creighton, places Elizabeth and her reign within the context of 16th century European political, religious, and military events. Elizabeth overcomes her two great rivals, King Philip of Spain and Mary, Queen of Scots. England gradually unites behind her Queen, who survives multiple assassination plots. After the defeat of the Spanish Armada, the English, lightly taxed by their frugal sovereign, launch flourishing commerce enterprises. The author writes of the Protestant Reformation that "a change of belief meant a revolt from authority." In this age of individualism, personal daring, and a consciousness of national greatness, the golden age of Elizabethan literature breaks new ground in historiography, literary theory, poetry, and above all, drama. Sam In The Suburbs by P. G. Wodehouse Loyal Books A young and somewhat eccentric American named Sam Shotter is sent by his uncle, a wealthy businessman, to England to get him out of his hair. Sam's uncle sends him to work for Lord Tilbury's well known Mammoth Publishing Company, much against Lord Tilbury's better judgment. Sam accidentally comes to reside in Valley Fields, that peaceful suburb of milk and honey, where many complications of romantic, business, social and criminal natures ensue. This book also marks the first appearance of Chimp Twist, "a man so crooked he could hide behind a spiral staircase", and his associates and rivals in misdoing, Dolly and Soapy Molloy. This book was published in England under the title Sam The Sudden.
