The second half of 2020 pointed to a more positive outlook, with stocks recovering, but economic and supply chain volatility have continued to hamper the sector, as well as the broader economy.

To help respond to changing market conditions and improve output, companies could try what is known as a postponement strategy in supply chain management.

Amid growing pressure to meet a backlog of demand for healthcare treatment, this could help companies prevent shortages and head off delays to clinical research.
