Bible Study: Matthew 14

from Eley Ministries' "Open-Discussion" Bible Study · host Eley Enforcement Entertainment, LLC

This week's bible study is on Matthew, chapter 14. Lesson Summary: Elevation, upgrade, advancement, and promotion comes from God, so if you're living in this world trying to gain the approval of men, STOP ✋.  Matthew 14 Notes: Matthew 14:1-12 -> *Mark 6:14-29 -> Luke 9:7-9 Herod arrested John the Baptizer because of Herodias, Herod's sister in law (Phillip's wife). • John said Herod and Herodias shouldn't be married. It was against Jewish law. Leviticus 18:16; 20:21 • Herodias hated John because of what John said. *Heartcheck: Hate someone for speaking the truth? -- Meaning of the name Herod? Herod Antipas - King Herod - hero *far from what his name meant* Greek Herod Tetrarch - Ruler of the fourth division -- Is Herod now married to his brother's wife? Two of Herod’s sons were Herod Philip and Herod Antipas. Herod Philip married Herodias. When Herod Antipas visited his brother, he wanted Herodias for a wife for himself. So Herod Antipas divorced his own wife, Herodias divorced Herod Philip first, and Herod Antipas and Herodias got married. WHEN THE OPINIONS OF MEN BECOME MORE IMPORTANT THAN PLEASING THE FATHER • Herod enjoyed listening to John, and he protected John. Mark 6:20 • Herod didn't want to kill John because he was scared of the people who believed John was a prophet. • Herod killed John because everyone was watching him, and he had already promised his daughter 'anything she wanted'. • Herod felt guilty. • Was later accused of conspiracy against the Roman Empire by his nephew and was sent away to Spain to live alone with Herodias. *Herodias is very manipulative. She knew that he would keep his promise out of fear of men's opinions of him. She had been unable to convince Herod to kill John (Mark 6:19). *Trump* Antipas ruled throughout Jesus' time here. V.13-14 Jesus helps (heals) regardless of how He's feeling. Heart check: You may treat people well often, but how often do you treat them when you're not in the mood? V.17-21 There were over 5000 people who ate and were filled from only five loaves of bread and two fish. *When you're in God's Will, watch how your resources stretch.* V.25-33 Jesus walks on the water. Peter wants proof that it's Jesus, so he requests to also walk on water with Him. Then, Peter saw the wind and the waves. He got scared, and he began to sink. Jesus said Peter had little faith. They said, "You are really the Son of God." Gennesaret pronunciation: gehn-NEHS-uh-reht Voice 001 V.34-36 Came to the shore of Gennesaret. The people there believed in Jesus. They believed that if they could just touch the edge of His coat, they'd be healed. *only the edge 😂 For a prayer request or to reach out to any of the hosts, visit: https://eleyenforcementent.life

NEWMORROW SESSIONS - A PodCast Series on the Future of Hospitality Mario C. Bauer, Florian Schneider, Axel Weber & Dr. Tillman Bardt The Newmorrow PodCast is more than a podcast — it's a platform for open dialog on the future of our business, a platform for those building what doesn’t exist yet. Here, we share and embrace our passion for the hospitality industry, but we won’t romanticize the journey. We ask the tough questions, confront uncomfortable truths, and prepare for a future that resists easy answers. We believe that the tougher and wilder times become, the more openly, honestly and humanely people need to talk to each other and act together. We believe, openness, togetherness, and truthfulness should also be cornerstones of a professional community to develop our utopian idea of „open source“. This is a space where visionaries don’t just imagine the future — they wrestle with the paradoxes that shape it: success vs. happiness, data vs. instinct, stability vs. reinvention. Join leaders, entrepreneurs, and thinkers as they share not what made them — but what’s actively shaping them, now and next.
