Blizzard Warning | Connecticut Weather 6 AM
from The Connecticut Weather Podcast
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the Connecticut Weather Podcast for Tuesday, February 24th. Folks, that storm left us a parting gift. Almost two inches of fresh snow on the ground and black ice hiding on every shaded road. If you're heading out before 7 A.M., take it slow. Seriously slow. Wind chills around 8 A.M. Drop to 11 degrees. That's the kind of cold that finds every gap in your jacket. Now the good news. Skies clear by mid morning. Sunshine takes over. But don't let it trick you. Step outside along the coast and you're only hitting 30 degrees today. Slide inland to the central valley and it's even stingier. Tops near 27. Eastern Connecticut lands around 30 as well. That's a solid 8 degrees below normal for late February. Tonight is where it gets interesting. A sneaky round of snow creeps in around 4 A.M. Along the coast and eastern Connecticut. Central Connecticut sees it closer to 5 A.M. Totals stay light, maybe an inch. But lows plunge to 17 along the shore, 11 in the central corridor. And 13 out east. Every puddle, every wet spot.. Refreezes. Wednesday morning commute is going to be tricky. Wednesday itself is a weather blender. Morning snow flips to a wintry mix, then rain along the coast by afternoon. Central Connecticut could stack up 1 to 3 inches before the changeover. Temperatures surge into the upper 30s. Messy but manageable. The real headline? This unsettled pattern sticks around through Friday with quick hitting snow chances. Then Saturday opens up. Highs push into the mid 40s with sunshine. Almost feels like someone cracked a window into March. Sunday pulls back to 40 with a slight snow chance overnight. One bright spot worth noting. Sunrise today at 6:35 A.M., sunset at 5:36 P.M. We're gaining three minutes of daylight every day. Coastal tides stay calm. High tide near New London hits at 2:16 A.M. And again at 2:42 P.M. Keep that ice scraper in the car all week. You'll need it more than once. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
