🚨 BLIZZARD WARNING - Montana Weather 3/14 - Evening
from The Montana Weather Podcast
Good evening. Montana. I'm Michael Mosby. We woke up to a fresh coating of powder statewide. About 2 inches fell in the last 24 hours, sitting on top of an 8-inch base. Step outside right now and you'll feel the bite immediately—temperatures are hovering in the teens. But the wind is the real story today. A cold front is sweeping through, triggering Blizzard warnings for Cascade County and the Rocky Mountain Front through this evening. Travel will be treacherous with whiteout conditions. As the sun sets. Snow showers continue statewide tonight. The heaviest stuff falls before midnight, dropping another inch or two in most valleys. The mountains could see locally higher amounts, overnight lows are brutal. Central Montana bottoms out at 1 degrees above zero. That's dangerously cold. Western Montana hits 16, while the east is slightly milder at 12. Wind chills will make it feel like minus 4 in Great Falls. If you're heading out, cover every inch of skin—frostbite doesn't ask permission. Sunday brings a break, skies gradually clear, but the cold hangs on. Highs range from 28 degrees in Billings to 40 near Missoula. Here comes a massive temperature swing, monday starts with a chance of snow showers, then the floodgates open. Highs climb to 48 degrees on Monday, by Tuesday, we hit 60. Wednesday and Thursday feel like spring. We're talking 73 degrees in Great Falls on Thursday—nearly 25 degrees above normal. That warmth sticks around through Friday and Saturday with highs in the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies. As the sun sets. If your pipes survive tonight, buy them a thank you card. We'll be back with your next forecast evening. See you tomorrow.
