When former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg made the biggest donation ever to his alma mater Johns Hopkins, earmarked for student aid, some critics said a huge gift to an elite institution will not correct inequities in higher ed.Hopkins President Ron Daniels said he understands critics who would have like to see the money invested elsewhere.
