Bonus Episode - Spiritual Deepening Weekend 2023 - Session 1

from We Are NTC · host Nazarene Theological College

Hello and welcome to the We Are NTC podcast, a production of NTC Australia/New Zealand. My name is Joseph Wood, I am the Dean of Students at NTC and your host for the podcast. Recently, we held our annual Spiritual Deepening weekend at All Nations Church in Auckland, NZ. Joining those in person at the church was a small group who gathered in the Brisbane campus chapel, and several people online. Our speaker this year was the Rev Roland Hearn, field strategy coordinator in the Church of the Nazarene for Australia and New Zealand. Focusing on the first letter of John, Roland explored what he called, ‘the heart of holiness’. Over three evenings this theme was unpacked and shared with those in attendance. Through the grace of technology, we were able to record these sermons to share with you. This episode features the first evening, titled: Darkness and Desire. As always, we pray God’s blessing on you as you listen.

The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
