Brendan Byrne expresses confidence in new Minister of State with responsibility for Fisheries
A spokesperson for the Irish Fish Processors and Exporters Association has expressed his confidence in the Minister of State with responsibility for Fisheries, Timmy Dooley TD to help the industry develop over the next number of years. Brendan Byrne, chief executive of the group made the comments after Minster Dooley held a meeting yesterday with representatives from the seafood sector The meeting included representatives from the catching, aquaculture and processing sectors and the co-operatives. Speaking to ocean FM Mr Byrne described the meeting as ‘positive and constructive’. He expressed the confidence that Minister Dooley has the strong political leadership necessary needed to support a sector that he claims has been badly neglected by successive governments:
