South Africa’s public broadcaster said last week at least 90% of music played at the SABC’s 18 radio stations will from Thursday comprise of local music in a bid to prioritise homegrown content.SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said that this came after consultations with local music. This was celebrated by many on social media but there were those who questioned the move, asking questions about whether the industry would be able to maintain such a mandate.
