Calls for caretakers to be assigned to Sligo towns and villages

There are calls being made for the appointment of a caretaker for each town and village in Sligo.The Minister for Social Protection has been requested to review existing community employment schemes, with the aim of employing a local caretaker.The role would involve a person being paid to support community endeavours and developments, and it's hoped to be rolled out nationwide.Sligo-Drumcliff Cllr Thomas Walsh, who raised the initiative, says it won't cost any extra funding.
