Famed American author Truman Capote enjoyed the friendship of many of the wealthiest and most elite women in Manhattan high society. So why did he decide to betray them all by publishing an excerpt of his never-completed novel, Answered Prayers, which mocked them and revealed their darkest secrets? We discuss Capote and his "swans" with Laurence Leamer, author of the book Capote's Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era, which was the inspiration of the FX series "Feud: Capote and the Swans."
