I compose lyrics and melody together. percolating away in my head until ready to be vocalized. I sang my songs during years as a storyteller, teacher and school librarian. Now I am focused on bringing my songs and poetry to the public, I write in many genres from Celtic folksongs through jazz to rock and rap. The first recording was On The Water, which began my collaboration wtih Chris Birkett, and resulted in my first Catherine M Thompson Song Project: Celtic Cat, featuring Emily Brady, Matt Gerber, Ian Harper, and Chris Weatherstone.
