CBR052 - aardonyx - Ignite EP [Out Now]

from Critical Bass Recordings · host Critical Bass Recordings

These tracks are only Previews !!! The release kicks off with 'Ocean', a track that builds up and pulsates forward with relentless, warped bass tones and organic drum sounds. The sound design in the track is focused on contrasts between instruments to help exaggerate each instrument and create a wall of noise washing forward like the ocean waves. The title track 'Ignite' brings the music back to a more liquid and soulful sound, while still drawing on the same sound design style as the rest of the EP. The track builds slowly with swirling textures and the hint of a vocal that creates a relaxed vibe, an emotive pad and organ drone out in sections of the track giving the platform for the tonal percussive hits to lead the melody. 'Digress' is a more minimal and groove driven tune that hits hard and deep with layers of bass tone and different textural instruments throughout. Based around a unique set of samples and manipulated sound design, this really brings the mood back down. The EP finishes with the track 'Life', a blend of aardonyx's styles all wrapped up in a sinister, questioning chord progression that acts as a base for all that is to come. Again, the familiar sound design and instrumentation that runs through the EP is present creating the perfect ending to the collection of tracks. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia )
