"Challengers" is a 2024 romantic sports drama directed by Luca Guadagnino, known for his work on "Call Me By Your Name" and "Bones and All." The film stars Zendaya (Euphoria & Spider-Man No Way Home) as Tashi, a former tennis prodigy turned coach, alongside Josh O'Connor as Art, Tashi's husband and a tennis champion, and Mike Faist as Patrick, Tashi's ex-boyfriend and Art's rival. Set in the world of professional tennis, the story begins in 2006 when high schoolers Patrick Zweig and Art Donaldson are both attracted to the talented Tashi Duncan. The trio shares an intimate moment, setting the stage for a complex and intertwined relationship. Fast forward to the present, Tashi has transformed Art into a world-famous Grand Slam champion. However, when Art begins to lose his edge, Tashi signs him up for a "Challenger" event, a lower-level pro tournament, where he faces off against Patrick. The match becomes a test not only of their athletic prowess but also of their tangled personal history.The film explores the dynamics of their relationships, both on and off the court, as Tashi navigates her feelings for both men.
