Challenges facing non-DEIS Sligo schools highlighted

A Sligo Councillor has moved to highlight some of the major differences that currently exist between DEIS and non-DEIS schools.Independent Councillor Marie Casserly has raised the issue on the back of calls for fee paying to be included in the free schools book scheme.The Sligo Drumcliff Councillor says that challenges facing Noon DEIS schools also need to be highlighted when it comes to any debate on the future of educaion. She claims that there is a significant gap in resources, supports, and outcomes between DEIS and non-DEIS schools. Cllr Cassidy says there are a number of steps the new Minister for Education, Helen McEntee, can take to level the playing field
