Chapter 58 Summary Bravo returns to the warehouse after lunch with Derek and declines additional help, preferring to handle the work alone. Once Derek leaves, Bravo begins improving the building’s security by replacing the original door lock. After securing the overhead door with new padlocks, he turns his attention to the electrical panel. Using a flashlight and lockpicking tools, he gains access and finds that the main breaker, along with several others, had been deliberately turned off. Fearing the power might be cut at the source, he carefully resets the breakers and finally finds the office light switch. He flips it, and the room lights up. Feeling encouraged, he reactivates the remaining circuits, and soon the warehouse is filled with bright, steady light.At the FBI office, Roger Cortez waits anxiously at the entrance, visibly annoyed about being called in. Special Agent Javon Morris guides him to Interview Room C, where Cortez sits down and is formally read his Miranda rights. Javon explains that the questions will focus on both Cortez’s attendance at the LAB Conference and a specific conversation he had with Anthony Russell. Worried about what it might mean, Cortez hesitates, contemplating whether to speak freely or ask for a lawyer. After Cortez urges Javon to clarify what he means by the “other item,” he finds out it’s related to his talk with Russell, a subject he thinks is harmless.
