Charlotte leaders to vote on $91M purchase of Red Line train tracks

The city of Charlotte could vote on Tuesday to proceed with a purchase of railroad tracks needed for the city's future Red Line commuter rail service.The Red Line would provide a first-of-its-kind commuter rail service between Uptown Charlotte and the northern suburbs, including the Lake Norman region.Charlotte leaders have been considering whether to spend $91 million to purchase existing Norfolk Southern tracks between Charlotte and the northern suburb of Davidson.
