Chris Stewart on The Cam & Strick Podcast

from The Cam & Strick Podcast · host Chris Stewart

Race relations have always been a passionate subject throughout North America, but what about in the sport of hockey? Where are we when it comes to racial equality in the game? Chris Stewart, a longtime NHL player of Jamaican descent, brings that conversation to the Cam and Strick podcast. As a member of the newly appointed Diversity Alliance committee, Stewart gives his honest take of where we are today. This is the most honest and real discussion you're going to hear on the topic. But that's not all we talk about...Stewart has played nearly 700 NHL games, not bad for a kid who's overcome as much adversity as he has. He had to walk on to his junior team in the OHL before eventually becoming Captain of the Kingston Frontenacs just a few seasons later. He eventually would develop into an NHL 1st round draft pick, like his brother Anthony a few years before. Stewart has played on several teams throughout his NHL career, he's had his ups and downs but has always found a way to impact an NHL roster. He came into the NHL as a scorer and quickly became a core player with the Colorado Avalanche before moving on to St. Louis. Now, towards the later stages of his career, Stewart is looking to make an impact at the roots level by making hockey a safe place for people of all walks of life. Enjoy this raw, honest conversation about life, hockey, and perseverance.
