He and his wife Matushka Cindy have four children whom they are using to help develop their new acreage. The whole family worships at Holy Martyr Peter the Aleut Orthodox Church (Orthodox Church of America). Max Harwood attends Holy Nativity Orthodox Church in Langley, BC, Canada. He has an Undergrad in Biblical Studies (Columbia Bible College) and a Masters in Theology (Orthodox School of Theology, University of Toronto).
