Christoph Hochhäusler ist Regisseur, Autor, Publizist und Dozent. Geboren 1972 in München, studierte er zunächst Architektur und später Regie an der Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film in München. Bereits sein Debütfilm Milchwald(2003) wurde zur Berlinale eingeladen und machte ihn zu einer wichtigen Stimme des sogenannten „Berliner Schule“-Kinos. Mit Falscher Bekenner (2005) war er in der Reihe Un Certain Regard bei den Filmfestspielen in Cannes vertreten, Unter dir die Stadt (2010) lief im Wettbewerb in Cannes. Seine weiteren Filme, darunter Die Lügen der Sieger (2014) und Bis ans Ende der Nacht (2023, Wettbewerb Berlinale, Silberner Bär für Thea Ehre), liefen weltweit auf Festivals und wurden vielfach ausgezeichnet. Neben seiner Arbeit als Regisseur ist Hochhäusler als Publizist und Theoretiker des Kinos präsent. Er war Mitherausgeber der Filmzeitschrift Revolver, schreibt regelmäßig über Fragen der Filmästhetik und ist bekannt für seine präzisen, oft streitbaren Analysen zur Lage des deutschen und internationalen Kinos. Darüber hinaus ist er als Dozent tätig, unter anderem an der Deutschen Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (DFFB), an der Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln (KHM) sowie an internationalen Filmhochschulen.
