Clear Skies | Rhode Island Weather Noon
from The Rhode Island Weather Podcast
Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the Rhode Island Weather Podcast for Tuesday, February 24th. Folks, yesterday's three inches of snow gave Rhode Island a proper slap. And tonight? The cold is coming back for seconds. Right now Providence sits at 30 degrees under sunny skies. West winds at 6 to 9 miles an hour keep things brisk but manageable. Wander down toward Narragansett Bay and you'll feel a different story. Northwest gusts hit 15 miles an hour around 11 AM. That damp coastal wind cuts right through you. Enjoy the sunshine while you can. Tonight the temperature falls off a cliff. Providence drops to 11 degrees. The Bay holds at 17. Either way, that's the kind of cold where your car door handle stings your bare hand. Now Wednesday morning.. That's when things get spicy. Snow rolls in around 6 AM and peaks near 9 AM. Providence picks up 1 to 3 inches before warming temps mix it with rain. The Bay sees the same window of messy precipitation. Winds swing from northwest to west around 2 PM. Wednesday's high climbs to 39 degrees. A 30 degree swing in 24 hours. Classic. Looking ahead, the pattern stays restless. Thursday night into Friday brings another round of snow chances. Highs linger in the upper 30s. Saturday is the gem. Mostly sunny, 44 degrees. That almost feels tropical after this week. Then another cold shot crashes the party Sunday night. One more thing worth noting. Today's high of 30 is eight degrees below normal for late February. But we're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every day now. Sunrise at 6:30, sunset at 5:31. The light is winning even when the thermometer isn't. Charge your phone tonight. Cold like this drains batteries faster than you'd think. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
