Colossians 3:14-17 - Become a Disciple of Peace

from Pastor Mike Impact Ministries · host Michael L Grooms

Today, Tuesday June 15 Become a Disciple of Peace Colossians 3:14-17 “And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. My friend, I’m convinced that the solution to all of mankind’s problems is really a very simple one. Recently our vice-president said that she went to another country to get to “root” of the problem. But the problem is that the politicians and the scientist have no clue what the root problem is or where to look for it. A few years ago I was sitting on a plane next to an older man who said he was a scientist. We begin sharing our thoughts and beliefs about life and eternity. When I ask him what he believed, I’ll never forget his answer. He said, “I believe that science has all the answers to the problems of humanity.” To me it is obvious that neither science nor diplomacy are going to solve our problems in the world today. The Apostle Paul said that a sign of the last days would be a strong cry for peace and safety. (1 Thessalonians 5:3) The longing in every human heart is for peace and security. And the only place in all the world that it can be found is in Jesus Christ. The problems in human relationships are not external, they are internal. The root problem of all problems is the pride and sin of the human heart, and the simple and only answer that will change a heart that is full of deceit, anger, greed, wrath, malice, slander and evil desires is a personal relationship with the “Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.” Then we can receive the “Word of Christ” and let it “dwell in us richly” (v. 16). When God’s peace rules in our hearts, we can then be at peace with those around us. We can effectively “teach and admonish one another in all wisdom” (v. 16) The Apostle James said, “But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.” (James 3:17-18) Today, if you will read, study, memorize and meditate on the Words of Christ (the Bible), you can and will be a disciple of peace that impacts and changes the world around you! God bless!
