Concern over vacant health positions in North West

from Ocean FM News Reports

Concern has been expressed that many vacant health positions that currently exist in the north west will not be filled this year. As a result of the recruitment freeze patients could be facing increased waiting times while those working in Hospitals such as Sligo and Letterkenny could be under more pressure. The freeze was introduced in November in an effort to keep expenses down following budget overruns. The Irish Times are reporting that budget allocations for 2024 will result in the vast majority of vacant posts not being afforded funding to employee new personnel. Sligo Leitrim Deputy Martin Kenny says it's bad news for patients and front line staff.
