Connecticut Weather 3/8 Midday - 26° Above Normal
from The Connecticut Weather Podcast
Good afternoon. Connecticut. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you'll feel that damp chill clinging to the air. We picked up about three-hundredths of an inch overnight. And light drizzle is still hanging around this morning. But. This is winter's last stand. A warm front is pushing through. And behind it? Spring warmth is about to crash the party. Eastern Connecticut takes the wettest punch this morning. Sixty percent chance of showers through early afternoon with patchy fog. High of 57 degrees. Central areas get mostly cloudy skies with fog clearing by late morning, topping out near 59. The coast sees a few lingering showers before 8 A.M., then mostly cloudy. High near 58. Tonight, skies clear statewide. Lows drop to 35 degrees as drier air finally settles in. Monday brings the kind of sunshine we haven't seen since fall. Highs hit 56 at the coast, 64 in central areas. And 56 out east. That's 26 degrees above normal for early March. Perfect weather for a lunchtime walk if you ask me. Tuesday and Wednesday turn unseasonably warm with highs climbing into the upper 60s inland. We could even touch 70 in the Connecticut River valley. The coast stays cooler in the 50s thanks to that ocean breeze. Thursday brings a strong frontal system with widespread rain and gusty winds. Behind that front, temperatures crash back to reality. Highs in the 40s Friday and Saturday. Don't forget — clocks spring forward one hour tonight. You'll lose an hour of sleep, but we're gaining daylight. Sunset tonight at 6:50 P.M. Charge your phone before bed. You'll need that alarm working tomorrow morning. See you this evening.
