Connecticut Weather March 3 Evening - 28° Above Normal

from The Connecticut Weather Podcast

Good evening. Connecticut. I'm Aaron Jolly. That steady snow you've been watching? We picked up nearly an inch overnight. And it's still coming down. We bottomed out at a brutal 28 degrees last night, but right now we're sitting at 29 with moderate snow. But here's the twist. This is a transition day. In the next 24 hours. Central Connecticut is the trouble spot tonight. Temperatures hold steady near 28 degrees as freezing rain moves in this evening. That could create a glaze of ice on untreated surfaces, lasting right into early Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, the coast and eastern areas stay just warm enough. You'll see lows around 33 to 34 degrees, which means plain rain and patchy fog for you. Wednesday brings real relief. Morning fog burns off. And sunshine takes over. Highs reach 48 to 50 degrees statewide. That's about 28 degrees above normal for early March. But don't get too comfortable. Thursday brings another round of rain. And Friday looks downright raw — cloudy and cool with highs only in the low 40s. The weekend? that's your reward. A significant warmup arrives. Saturday touches the low 50s. And Sunday and Monday both climb near 60 degrees. We're talking 28 degrees to 28 degrees above normal. One more thing — tonight's full moon will be playing hide and seek behind all those clouds. And with the spring equinox just two weeks away, we're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every single day. Tonight, expect rain and freezing rain with lows between 28 and 34. Wednesday turns mostly sunny with highs near 50. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
