Dans cette seconde partie de l'entretien, Michel Garneau revient sur son enfance, les salons artistiques chez lui, son entrée dans la vie à 14 ans lorsqu'il quitte la maison, la découverte de la métaphore et de l'allitération avec son frère ainé poète. Il nous laisse avec le récit de ce souvenir vif de son voyage trans-atlantique en voilier, sur les traces de Jacques Cartier avec le cinéaste Pierre Perreault, d'où il rejoint les étoiles.

La sélection de poèmes mis en musique dans cet épisode sont le fruit de la traduction de Michel Garneau des œuvres suivantes: «J'ai pris une longue nuit de novembre...» de la poète coréenne Hwang Jin-yi [1506-1544]; «Je chante et pleure et veux faire et défaire...» d'Abraham de Vermeil, poète français du 16e siècle; «Moi je passe et je meurs et je vous contemple, étoiles...» de Ptolémée, astronome grec, du IIe siècle.
