Costa Urbana is a regular club event featuring live, dj and visual artists bringing to life a overwhelmingly lively and slightly anarchic mosaic of Med nightlife borrowing from the past, present and future of the basin's cultural heritage. The musical orientation is embracing anything from well-researched archive gems of original recordings, to the odd 80s TV commercial tune, the rise of dub in Napoli, the mestizo music of Barcelona, the latest Turkish hip-hop from Germany while the dancefloor hours resonate to off your head flamenco funk, balkanised drum n' bass, Istanbulian groove, bouzouki discopop, Maghreb-gnawa beats, tarantella trance... Past and present regular DJs include Ed Simpson, U-Cef, Aidan Love and Nova. Live music is an integral part of Costa Urbana and over the years many of London's new and upcoming bands have performed on our stage such as Ama, Mahjoon, Etmo, Moshikop, Lautrec, She'koyokh, Noqta, Bongo Bros, 40 Thieves Orkestar, Max Pashm, Beat Tree a.o. The Concept The starting point of Costa Urbana's voyage is the city by the sea, the Mediterranean metropolis, that shared vision of the modern urban mess; and that inexplicably blissful contrast one is experiencing at the edge of the city... the strict blue horizon; the port, the voyage... It explores the beauty of the South European, Balkan, Middle Eastern and North African coast and its people. Costa Urbana aims to provide a socialising home for professionals and younger people who appreciate the seductive, wholehearted and spontaneous bar and club vibe of the Mediterranean and the Balkans; where tradition and roots in entertainment and the arts blend with the urban life realities.
