Bio Rodney Kaufman In an industry often defined by good intentions, Rodney Kaufman has built his reputation on something far more powerful: standards. As the founder of Corporate Canine Therapy, Rodney is not only shaping how therapy dog programs are delivered across the GTA and Ottawa; he is influencing how organizations think about psychological safety, risk management, and human wellness through the lens of canine-assisted support. With more than 10,000 hours of hands-on field experience, his work has taken place in the environments where excellence is not optional: hospitals, complex care units, schools, large corporate workplaces, and first responder settings. This is not theory. This is lived expertise. From Frontline Volunteering to Advanced Hospital Placements Rodney’s career began with years of volunteering through St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Services, progressing through every handler level and culminating in advanced placements at SickKids. Working alongside his soul dog, Harlow, he supported paediatric patients, families, and peer support initiatives that included first responders. Their work in complex care environments required a rare level of stability, intuition, and trust. The very qualities that now define the teams he mentors. In recognition of her extraordinary impact, Harlow was awarded Volunteer of the Year at SickKids for her work with children under one year of age. Today, Rodney’s work continues with Juno, his Great Dane and the current mascot of Corporate Canine Therapy who is a visible symbol of the calm, confident presence that has become the organization’s signature. As Corporate Canine Therapy continues to grow, Rodney’s role is increasingly that of mentor, evaluator, and thought leader. Developing the next generation of therapy dog teams while helping institutions integrate canine-assisted wellness in a way that is ethical, effective, and sustainable.
