Creepy British Ghost Story | The Thing In Mother’s Mirror

Following her mother’s death, Amelia is left to clear the house she grew up in. Room by room, she sorts through a lifetime of belongings – until she reaches the ornate mirror her mother spent hours before. Maybe she’s now old enough to understand why…  I got the idea for this story after spotting a battered old mirror tucked into the corner of a museum. Its dark wooden frame was wound with vine leaves and apples, each marked with indentations that made the fruit look uncannily like leering faces. The glass itself was tarnished, brown-spotted with age and for a moment, I had the uneasy sense it was reflecting something other than the displays behind me. I moved away quickly – but that mirror stayed with me long afterwards.
