Boat lovers, beware: major waterway closures hit D.C. this Fourth of July. The Potomac River from the Francis Scott Key Bridge to two hundred yards south of the Fourteenth Street Bridge is off-limits to recreational boaters July 2nd through 6 AM July 5th. The Anacostia River between the Eleventh Street Bridge and two hundred yards south of the Frederick Douglass Bridge closes July 4th from 6 PM to midnight. Commercial ferries and dinner cruises can still operate on the Potomac but with time limits July 3rd and 4th. And if you’re flying, Reagan National Airport shuts down for takeoffs and landings starting noon July 4th—expect operations to resume July 5th.
