The Putin opposition group founded by Alexi Navalny to expose corruption inside the Kremlin has been banned from carrying out its work while the court decides whether to designate it as an extremist organization. That means they can't publish anything online, take part in elections or organize protests. More than a thousand people were arrested across Russia last week after taking part in protest and supported Navalny who just ended a three week hunger strike after nearly dying. The wave of gun violence recorded in the United States this year appears to have driven a record demand for first time firearm buyers.
FBI data shows at six of the all time top 10 days for background checks were recorded in March, 2021. The violence project says this is normal and that whenever there are high profile mass shootings people stockpile weapons out of fear that government will clamp down on gun rights. The stock price of drug maker emergent bio solutions hit the floor after it admitted that some 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson's coronavirus vaccine were wrecked at one of its plans. But it wasn't punishing for the company's chief executive Robert Kramer who coincidentally sold off more than $10 million of the company stock in early February in a deal that was reportedly planned last year.
Police officers in Washington, DC totaled two patrol cars after slamming into each other during a high speed drag race on a residential street last week. On Sunday police confirmed that four officers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and that all four of them have been placed on probation pending the outcome of an internal investigation. Apple is expanding its empire east. In a statement published Monday, the world's most valuable company committed to investing over $1 billion in a new North Carolina campus that it claims will create 3000 new jobs in the state.
