Good morning, this is work hard with the Daily D's. It's Monday, November 30th, and these are the top stories the Chi Chi team is watching right now. A Pennsylvania State legislator received word he tested positive for COVID-19 while in the middle of a meeting with President Trump. According to the Associated Press, Senator Doug Moshriato came to the White House last Wednesday to discuss the president's increasingly absurd attempts to overturn Joe Biden's victory in the state.
He was informed mid-meeting that he had tested positive for the virus. Moshriato's son and his friend, who attended the meeting with the president and Republican state legislators, also tested positive for the virus. Several members of the Trump administration have previously tested positive for COVID-19, with the president himself being hospitalized with the virus in October. Joe Biden's doctor announced that the president-elect suffered a minor fracture in his foot after slipping while playing with his dog on Saturday.
Kevin O'Connor, Biden's personal doctor, said the president-elect could be in a walking boot for several weeks. The transition is still moving forward though, with Biden filling out his senior communications staff within all-woman team. On Twitter, Jen Psaki, who was named as White House Press Secretary on Sunday, praised her team as quote, "'some of the most talented battle-tested communicators out there.' She noted that they are also the quote, "'most diverse team in history, and also six moms of young kids.'" President Trump's requested recount in Georgia came to a temporary halt Sunday night when a server in Bolton County crashed. The server is owned by Dominion Voting Systems, the company at the center of many of Trump's baseless allegations about voting.
The recount is expected to resume Monday. Biden won Bolton County, which comprises much of the city of Atlanta, by nearly a quarter of a million votes. A recount overturning Biden's 12,000 vote margin of victory in Georgia would be unprecedented. Earlier on Sunday, Wisconsin announced the end of its recount in the state's two largest counties, also at the request of the Trump campaign.
That recount found 87 additional votes for Biden. An Oregon hospital has put a nurse on administrative leave for TikTok video that showed her bragging about breaking COVID rules. In the video, the Salem health worker wearing scrubs and a stethoscope pantomime screaming under the caption quote, "'When my coworkers find out I still travel, don't wear a mask when I'm out and let my kids have play dates.'" It came to the hospital's attention after being shared by other users who were outraged by this message and the threat of healthcare worker who does not follow pandemic protocols could pose to vulnerable patients. Salem health said on a Facebook page that it wanted to thank the people who flagged the post and assure people that it's taken the pandemic quote, very seriously.
Actress Laverne Cox said she has quote, definitely in shock but all right after her and her friend wore a caustin and attacked over the weekend. Cox told viewers of her Instagram live stream that she was in Griffith Park in Los Angeles when a man asked her quote, "'Gire Girl.'" Cox, who was trans, said she thought the man was quote, looking for trouble. After Cox's friend swore the man, he became violent and struck the friend. The man fled before Cox could call the police, she said.
She told USA Today that she has used to being quote, harassed and bullied but said she does not understand why the man felt the need to be so aggressive. A brazen birdnapper cut the locks of the aviary at the California Zoo and tucked two threatened species into a duffel bag during the early hours on Sunday. Officials at the Fresno Chapey Zoo have alerted local pet stores to be on the lookout for the feathered crime victims. They are especially concerned because the birds are elderly and require special care.
The zoo has urged the perpetrators to return the pigeon and cockatoo so that they can give the attention that they need. That's all for this morning. Check back every weekday morning and afternoon for more of the news you need to know. Find us wherever you listen to podcasts.
