Today is Thursday, July 19, 2018. Hi, my name is Adam Burton and you are listening to The Daily Devo, a short devotional designed to help you apply God's Word to your life. The content comes from the Gospel Project. Take a few moments and read 1 Thessalonians, chapter 4 verse 13, chapter 5 verse 11.
Paul encouraged the church to be steadfast in righteous living and hope because of the Savior's return. But he added one more layer to his instruction in verse 18, just as he was encouraging the Thessalonians with words about the return of Jesus, he instructed them to also encourage one another with the same message. Paul told Thessalonians they should show the same love and care Paul felt for them. We are loved by Christ and as a result, we love him and one another.
This love is an expression of our hope and action. Think about this. How should Jesus' return deepen our love for him and others? Jesus' return will be good news for those who believe in him, but frightful news for unbelievers.
