Today is Saturday, July 28, 2018. Hi, my name is Adam Burton, and you are listening to The Daily Devo, a short devotional designed to help you apply God's Word to your life. The content comes from the Gospel Project. Take a few moments and read 2nd Peter, chapter 3, verses 1 through 13.
Many of us can be rather impatient and impulsive at times. For example, this impatient shows up when it comes to fast-food restaurants. We eat at fast-food restaurants not necessarily for the quality of the food, but for its taste and convenience. We know fast food is not the best for our health, and there are cheaper ways to eat, yet we return for the momentary pleasure of a quick meal.
Even patience and impulsiveness is also why we find it so difficult to diet and exercise regularly. We know how we want to look and feel, but we are too impatient to give our dieting and exercising the necessary time to see results. We don't see a difference quickly enough, so we yield to our impulses to eat, and we sleep in instead of going to the gym. And what areas of your life do you struggle with impatience or impulsiveness?
While impatience and impulsiveness can significantly affect our daily lives, they can also carry over into our faith. God seems to slow for us at times. He seems to detached or unaware of what we really want. Because of that, it is easy for us to lose hope in God's promises, or to give in to the temptations and pressures of the world.
It is in these times that we need to steadfast patience and hope in our coming Messiah. If you are in need of prayer, please get in touch with me. I would love to pray for you. You can connect with me on social media or shoot me an email at adambertton.net.
