Today is Monday, August 20, 2018. Hi, my name is Adam Burton and you are listening to The Daily Divo, a short devotional designed to help you apply God's Word to your life. The content comes from the Gospel Project. Take a few moments and read Revelation 4 verse 2 through chapter 5 verse 14.
Depending on how verse 6 is translated, we can say that Jesus is near or in the midst of God's throne. We know that God the Father is on the throne, but at the same time we can know that Jesus is on the throne too. He is not in a secondary position just because he is near or at the right hand of the throne. In fact, when speaking to the Church in Laodicea, Jesus said the throne belongs to him.
Maybe the biblical writers were trying to describe something we have never really seen, multiple persons sitting on the same throne. But we know that the Father and Son are equally worshiped as the King on the throne. Think about this, since Jesus is the one at the throne being bound to and worshiped by everyone, what does this communicate about his divine status? How does Jesus' kingship bring you comfort and hope for today?
