Today is Tuesday, October 22, 2019 and here is your Daily Devo. The analogy of being like sheep who have gone astray is a helpful way to describe sin. Sin always reflects the thought process that “my way” is the “better way.” We can trace the origin of this thought all the way back to the garden of Eden when the serpent asked Eve, “Did God really say...” Essentially, she was being led astray from the good, perfect, and holy way of God to follow her own way.  The same mindset can be found in us everyday when we decide to choose our way over God’s way. And like Eve in the garden, we choose our way by falsely thinking this path will be better for us, or perhaps we choose it thinking that it is the more comfortable decision. Choosing to copy someone else’s homework or cheat on a test is more comfortable than working hard and studying. Choosing to disregard purity in our relationships is done with the mindset that those decisions are better for us. However, choosing our own way never results in the good, perfect, and holy ways of God.  Think about this: What does Isaiah’s description of being like sheep teach us about the nature of sin? What are some examples of people going their own way today?  Thank you for listening to the Daily Devo. Please send me a comment, like, or share the Daily Devo. It helps others to get the Daily Devo.
