I'm Adam Burton and this is the Daily Devo, today is Wednesday, September 29, 2021. This week's Bible verse to memorize is John chapter 1 verses 12 and 13. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God, John chapter 1 verses 12 and 13. Did you know that on this date in 1941 was the Babi Yar Massacre, about 33,000 Soviet Jews were killed at the Babi Yar Ravine in Kiev by the Nazis in a two day massacre that started on this day.
In 1954, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, popularly known as CERN, was established by 12 European governments. In 1972, Canada launched its first ever satellite, Alouette 1, on this day from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, United States, a joint venture between NASA and Defense Research and Development Canada. The satellite was sent to study Earth's ionosphere. In 1991, there was a coup in Haiti.
President John Petrend, Aristide, was deposed in a military coup. Aristide had been elected in a national election held eight months before the coup. In 1994, M.S. Estonia, a passenger in Car Ferry, sank in the Baltic Sea, killing more than 800 passengers.
It is considered to be the worst maritime peacetime disaster of the 20th century. Now you do know. Think about these Bible verses today, from the Psalms, chapter 1, verses 1 through 6. Blessed is the man who walks not in the Council of the Wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers, but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers, the wicked or not so, but are like chaff, that the wind dries away. Therefore, the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners, at the congregation of the righteous, for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
