Hi, I'm Adam Burton, the pastor at Central Baptist Church in Maysville, Kentucky. Today begins a new series in the Daily Divo. The Daily Divo is a follow the Bible study in the gospel project for the last several years, and we have completed that study, but I want to continue the Daily Divo. So in this new series, each weekday, we will look at a historical event from that day.
But more importantly, if you journey with you, we will memorize a verse of scripture each week. So if you stay with me for a year, you will learn at least 52 Bible verses. How awesome is that? Well, here is today's Daily Divo.
Today is Monday, August 30, 2021. And here is your Daily Divo. Today we celebrate Slinky Day, the toy that has frustrated many of us who have gotten that little piece of plastic or metal all tangled up. The Slinky was initially designed in the 1940s by Richard James.
Interestingly, the United States troops used Slinky's as mobile radio antennas, and NASA uses them as an experiment on space shows. Our Bible verse for this week is 2 Corinthians, chapter 5, verse 17. I will be using the English standard version of the Bible, but you can use any faithful Bible translation. 2 Corinthians 5, 17.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5, 17.
Take a couple of minutes and read 2 Corinthians 5, 17, 5 times, emphasizing a different word or phrase each time. After reading it 5 times, close or turn off your Bible. And see how well you remember it. For some, it would be helpful to write down the verse.
Join me tomorrow for another episode of the Daily Divo, God Bless.
