Dangerous heat index values move into the Charlotte area Friday and for the weekend

A Heat Advisory has been issued for Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Union County from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. today and until 8 p.m. for Stanly, Anson and Richmond county's. Today (Friday) through the weekend, the WCNC Charlotte Weather Impact Team is keeping folks weather alert due to feels-like temperatures at or above 103 degrees. This threshold (of 103 or higher) is normally when heat-related illnesses become more common. Highs Friday will stretch to 97 degrees but the real feel will peak up to 105 degrees which is when the National Weather Service will issue a heat advisory.
